We are using Merz Aesthetics, the manufacturer of Xeomin, to give the aesthetic community the opportunity to try Xeomin at an introductory discount.

How long does Xeomin last?

Most patients will see the full effect on days 3 – 7 and muscle relaxation may last up to 3 months. A clinical study that tested Xeomin versus other botulinum toxin in the frown lines concluded that Xeomin demonstrated a more rapid onset and a longer duration of treatment effect than other botulinum toxin. A different study looking at the crow’s feet concluded that Xeomin worked and lasted as long as other botulinum toxin.

What areas of my face can I get injected & how many units?

Three areas around the eyes are the most commonly injected: frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, and crow’s feet. Other areas on the face may be injected depending on your injector's expertise.

What is the price for the areas injected?

The first area of injection includes an injection fee of $89 + $3/unit of Xeomin. You must activate XperienceMerz.com, which give you a discount of $50.  Therefore, 20 units of Xeomin is $149 minus $50 rewards credit, which equals $99..

What are the potential side effects?

Various symptoms such as asthenia, generalized muscle weakness, diplopia, blurred vision, ptosis, dysphagia, dysphonia, dysarthria, urinary incontinence, and breathing difficulties have been observed from hours to weeks following the injection.

There have been reports of death related to the spread of botulinum toxin from swallowing or breathing difficulties. You MUST seek immediate medical attention if swallowing, speech, or respiratory disorders occur.

Hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis, serum sickness, urticaria, soft-tissue edema, and dyspnea have been reported. Any hypersensitivity to neurotoxin, human albumin, or sucrose can lead to life threatening anaphylaxis. If you experience any of the symptoms, then immediate medical attention is required.

Corneal exposure, ulceration, or ectropion has been reported. The loss of orbicularis muscle can lead to complications.

Xeomin also contains albumin, which is a derivative of human blood. Therefore, there is a theoretical risk of viral diseases, CJD, or vCJD, although none has ever been reported.

What are the contra-indications?

Xeomin is contraindicated in the following patients with known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin or other components in the formulation or an infection at the site of injection.

Patients with peripheral motor neuropathy diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or neuromuscular junctional disorders (e.g., myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome) are at increased risk and cannot be injected.
